Wyboo Golf Club April Newsletter
We hope this newsletter finds everyone in good health and your golf game is doing well as we progress with spring golf. Please mark your calendars for May 31st, this is our annual Member/Member tournament. Entry forms were sent out by email and we have entry forms available in the pro shop. This year’s event will be a 9:00 shotgun start with a cook-out afterwards. I will be on #2 to do my best in the Beat the Pro competition on that hole. This year, we will have a contest on #8 for discounts on Foot Joy shoes. If you participate in the Foot Joy contest, you will be eligible to win a pair of Foot Joy golf shoes with a nearest to the pin competition. Foot Joy is gracious enough to give a pair for both Ladies closest and Men’s closest to the pin on #8. Rick Murrell with Foot Joy will be on #8 to meet you and conduct the contest. The deadline to enter is May 29th at noon. Refreshments will be on the golf course during your round of golf. Get your favorite partner and enjoy a great day of golf and fun. We look forward to seeing an excellent turnout for this year’s event.
In the pro shop, we will be receiving apparel from Bermuda Sands for Ladies and Gentlemen. Shorts for men are going out this week along with shorts and skorts for the ladies. We will be receiving more golf bags soon.
On May 16th, we will have a demo day for TaylorMade golf. A link was sent out for you to sign up online for a fitting appointment. You can also go into TaylorMade’s website to sign up. The time is 11:00 to 3:00. The appointment process is how TaylorMade runs their demo days. Please go in early to secure your appointment time.
Tip from the Pro:
When chipping, keep your hands in a forward press position through impact. By keeping your hands ahead of the clubface, this will keep the clubface square at impact and also allow to strike the ball squarely instead of hitting the shot thin or behind the ball at impact. Do not grip the club too tightly, this will cause an inconsistent backswing with the club.
A reminder that throughout May, our maintenance staff will be doing some verticutting and spraying to get the greens ready for the June 19th aerification. We would like to thank you for helping us with cart procedures, filling in divots and repairing ballmarks. Rick and his staff should be commended for providing a very well-conditioned golf course for us.
On April 23rd, there was a meeting with various members of Wyboo Golf Club and ownership of Wyboo Golf Club. The purpose of this meeting was to gather opinions, concerns, and ideas from membership to ownership. This was an excellent meeting with ideas and points of views swapped by both parties. Wyboo Golf Club wants you to be proud to be a member of this fine golf course and we value your input greatly. It was suggested by these members that it would be a good idea for this to take place on a quarterly basis among different members each time. Wyboo Golf Club does indeed plan on doing this and hope that when we call you to attend a meeting, you would join us. The next meeting is being planned for mid-July. These quarterly meetings will be very helpful for both membership and ownership going forward.
